women@GaLaBau: Successful Launch at GaLaBau 2026

<p>With a clear signal for greater visibility of women in garden and landscape construction, the new initiative <strong>women@GaLaBau</strong> was launched at this year's leading trade fair. The launch was well received by participants and the industry – and at the same time aroused a desire for further formats of this kind.</p><h2>A new format for the green industry</h2><p>On September 16, the starting signal for women@GaLaBau was given as part of GaLaBau 2026 in Nuremberg. The initiative is a joint project of TASPO and GaLaBau exhibition and pursues a clear goal: to make strong women of the industry visible, to network with each other and to strengthen them in their professional development. At the get-together, which began at 11 a.m., women from garden and landscape construction exchanged ideas about their career paths, talked about their everyday professional life as managers on construction sites, and discussed how to successfully balance family and career.</p><p>The format clearly struck a nerve in the industry. The informal setting enabled participants to openly discuss challenges and successes in the often male-dominated environment of garden and landscape construction. The feedback was consistently positive – coupled with a clear desire to continue and further expand the format at future fair editions.</p><h2>GaLaBau 2026: New structure, new impetus</h2><p>The launch of women@GaLaBau took place against the backdrop of a newly reorganized GaLaBau. The international leading trade fair for urban green spaces and open areas took place in 2026 for the first time from Tuesday to Friday – no longer from Wednesday to Saturday as before. The organizers responded to an explicit request from exhibitors and visitors. From September 15-18, 2026, the Nuremberg exhibition center opened its doors, Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., closing one hour earlier on Friday.</p><p>This changed schedule also provided a suitable environment for new formats such as women@GaLaBau. In addition to the women's initiative, the 2026 fair excelled with an extensive supporting program: The GREEN-BLUE PATH focused on sustainable solutions for green and open spaces, and in the Demonstration Area & E-Mobility Area, visitors could experience practice-oriented technologies up close. The program was complemented by the ZUKUNFTSRAUM, expert discussions and Landscape Talks, as well as the startups@GaLaBau format, which provided a platform for young companies.</p><h3>Women as a driving force in the industry's transformation</h3><p>Garden and landscape construction, like many technical industries, faces the challenge of establishing greater diversity in leadership positions and on construction sites. Initiatives such as women@GaLaBau address exactly this: they create spaces where experiences can be shared, networks can be built, and role models can be made visible. In particular, the open discussion about professional everyday life – for example as a manager on the construction site or in the tension between family and career – resonated strongly with participants.</p><p>The fact that such a format was offered for the first time as part of GaLaBau underscores the fair's commitment to not only focusing on product innovations and machinery technology, but also actively accompanying societal and personnel policy developments in the industry. For exhibitors and industry visitors, this provided an additional opportunity to engage with future topics in the industry beyond the mere product exhibition.</p><h2>Conclusion and outlook</h2><p>The successful launch of women@GaLaBau demonstrates: the need for networking and visibility for women in garden and landscape construction is great. The positive response to the first edition and the clearly expressed desire for continuation suggest that the format could become a permanent fixture at future GaLaBau editions. Combined with the new, more compact fair structure from Tuesday to Friday, the leading trade fair is thus sending a signal for a modern, forward-looking industry that is developing both technologically and in terms of personnel. Whether and in what form women@GaLaBau will be continued at the next edition remains to be seen – but the launch has certainly whetted appetites for more.</p>
