The promotional products industry is facing a geographic new beginning: The PSI, established for decades as Europe's leading specialist trade fair for promotional products, is leaving its long-standing location in Düsseldorf and moving to Cologne in 2027. For exhibitors, buyers and agencies from across the industry, this represents a significant change in the trade fair calendar – and at the same time opens new opportunities for the future of the event.

The Move at a Glance

After PSI 2026 took place from January 7-9 in the familiar surroundings of Düsseldorf Trade Fair, the upcoming edition will be held in Cologne for the first time. PSI 2027 is scheduled for January 12-14 in Cologne. Thus, the promotional products trade fair joins Cologne's dense trade fair calendar, which already hosts international leading trade fairs such as ISM Cologne or the spoga series.

The relocation to Cologne marks a significant turning point in the history of the event, which positions itself as "The Leading European Trade Show of the Promotional Products Industry". The change of venue comes at a time when many German trade fairs are reconsidering their location strategies to leverage synergies with other industry events and expand their reach.

What the Industry Expects from PSI

PSI 2026 in Düsseldorf impressively demonstrated the importance of the trade fair for the promotional products industry: Across approximately 50,000 square meters of exhibition space, manufacturers, dealers, distributors, agencies and buyers came together to discuss current industry trends and new products. Topics such as inspiration, sourcing, sustainability and business collaboration were at the center of the trade fair program.

The exhibition was complemented by a comprehensive supporting program: The PSI Forum offered in-depth specialist discussions, while the PSI Academy served as a platform for professional development and networking – including the traditional presentation of rotating partner countries as guests of honor at the fair. These formats are likely to remain an integral part of the concept at the new Cologne location as well.

Cologne as the New Trade Fair Venue for the Promotional Products Industry

With the move, PSI joins a long list of international trade fairs based in Cologne. The Cathedral City has established itself in recent years as an attractive venue for B2B leading trade fairs in various industries – from the confectionery industry to the construction sector to motorsport. For PSI, proximity to other international specialist events could create additional synergy effects, particularly with regard to international visitor flows and the infrastructure of Cologne Trade Fair.

For exhibitors and industry visitors, the move first and foremost means an organizational adjustment: New travel routes, changed hotel capacities and a different hall structure need to be taken into account in planning. At the same time, the new venue opens up the opportunity to build on the success of previous years with a fresh concept and possibly an expanded offering.

Outlook on the Future of the Trade Fair

The change of date to mid-January 2027 and the new Cologne venue demonstrate that PSI organizers are actively driving the further development of the trade fair. For the promotional products industry, which traditionally sets important priorities for the coming business year at the beginning of the year, PSI remains a central meeting point – albeit at a new address.

It remains to be seen how the venue change will affect exhibitor numbers and international participation. What is certain, however: With Cologne as the new venue, PSI positions itself in a trade fair environment known for its international appeal and professional infrastructure. For the industry, it is now about adjusting to the new location and viewing PSI 2027 as an opportunity for a fresh start.
