Messe Frankfurt: New Europa-Allee Entrance Opens

With Automechanika 2026, Messe Frankfurt has reached a long-awaited milestone in its infrastructure expansion: On September 7, 2026, the new trade fair entrance Europa-Allee opened its doors for the first time. From now on, the fairgrounds can also be accessed from the south – a step that fundamentally changes not only the routing on the grounds but also the connection to the growing Europaviertel.

A four-story gateway to the fairgrounds

The new entrance area spans four stories and offers a spacious entrance hall on approximately 5,000 square meters of gross floor space. In addition to the pure entry area, additional spaces are created for events, meetings, and gastronomy. Via a forecourt, the entrance is directly connected to Europa-Allee and the adjacent Europaviertel – an urban planning signal that integrates the fair even more closely with its urban surroundings.

At the same time as the new entrance, Messe Frankfurt put the expanded Via Mobile into operation. This covered and glazed pathway system directly connects the new southern access to Hall 12 and the rest of the fairgrounds. Visitors benefit from short routes and intuitive orientation – regardless of weather and time of day.

Automechanika as the first beneficiary

It is no coincidence that Automechanika Frankfurt is the first event to use the new access. The direct connection to Hall 12, which opened in 2018, particularly benefits the companies exhibiting there and their visitors. Detlef Braun, CEO of Messe Frankfurt, emphasizes the strategic importance: "With Automechanika, one of our internationally strongest brands is the first event to benefit from the new access. The direct proximity to Hall 12 and the quick connection to the other halls make visiting the fair easier and create additional flexibility in routing."

From September 8-12, 2026, the Frankfurt fairgrounds transformed once again into the global meeting point of the automotive industry. Approximately 4,400 companies from over 80 countries presented innovations for the entire automotive aftermarket. According to the organizers' final report, over 112,000 specialist visitors from 173 countries used the five fair days as an industry meeting point. Artificial intelligence, software-defined and connected vehicles, driver assistance systems, and alternative drives were at the forefront – topics that demonstrate how strongly the aftermarket is currently repositioning itself in the context of vehicle transformation.

Connection to the future: U5 extension in sight

Particularly future-oriented is the location of the new entrance: it is directly at the stop of the U5 metro line extension, currently under construction, into the Europaviertel. Once this connection is completed, accessibility to the southern section of Messe Frankfurt should improve significantly. For exhibitors and visitors, this means shorter travel distances and better integration with public transport in the long term – an aspect that is gaining increasing importance in light of growing demands for sustainable mobility at major events.

Strategic importance for the Frankfurt fair location

The new Europa-Allee fair entrance is more than just an additional access to the grounds. It marks the consistent further development of Messe Frankfurt into a modern, multidirectionally accessible event venue. The combination of spacious entrance architecture, direct hall connection via Via Mobile, and future public transport connection positions the location significantly more flexibly for future major events. Particularly for trade fairs with international audiences like Automechanika, well-designed visitor routing directly impacts satisfaction and ultimately also the economic success of the event.

Conclusion and Outlook

With the new Europa-Allee entrance, Messe Frankfurt is sending a clear signal about its location's future viability. Automechanika 2026 has demonstrated how building infrastructure and event quality can meaningfully complement each other. Once the U5 extension into the Europaviertel is completed, the southern access should become even more significant – not only for Automechanika but for the entire trade fair program at the Frankfurt location. It remains exciting to see which other events will benefit from this new routing in the future.
