When the gates of the Berlin exhibition grounds open in autumn 2026, the international transport technology industry will once again be captivated by Berlin. InnoTrans, the world's leading trade fair for transport technology, will not only celebrate its 15th edition but also a special milestone: 30 years of InnoTrans. From September 22-25, 2026, more than 3,000 exhibitors will present their innovations around rail, road and public transport.

An Anniversary with International Impact

Organized by Messe Berlin, InnoTrans has developed into the central platform for the global rail industry since its founding. For this round anniversary, the fair looks back on three decades of innovation history – and simultaneously looks ahead. Those who wish to see the anniversary event live on site should mark March 2026 now, as the official ticket shop will open then.

It is already becoming clear that the event will be more international than ever: More than 200 new and returning exhibitors have registered for 2026, many of them from Europe, China and India. In addition to Deutsche Bahn, numerous international rail operators are participating, including China Railway, the RTA from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), Qatar's Ministry of Transport, Turkish TCDD, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), Polish PKP and Moroccan ONCF.

Five Segments, One Goal: Tomorrow's Mobility

InnoTrans traditionally comprises five specialist segments: Railway Technology, Railway Infrastructure, Public Transport, Interiors and Tunnel Construction. In this way, the fair covers the entire value chain of transport technology – from the locomotive to the rail infrastructure to the interior fittings of vehicles. A unique feature of the fair is the outdoor and rail display, where everything from tank cars to high-speed trains can be inspected live on 3,500 meters of rail length. Since 2016, a bus display with an adjoining demonstration course has also complemented the offering.

World Premieres and Innovations Experienced Live

Innovation has always been the hallmark of InnoTrans. In 2024 alone, the fair counted 226 world premieres – from a battery-hydrogen fuel cell locomotive to AI-based timetable algorithms to anti-graffiti films. In 2026, professional visitors can again expect numerous innovations, both presented live at exhibition stands and previewed digitally. New formats such as the AI Mobility Lab impressively demonstrate how strongly artificial intelligence is already shaping the mobility industry – for example through virtual reality applications and AI-based planning tools.

Digital Expansion through InnoTrans Plus

With InnoTrans Plus, Messe Berlin also offers exhibitors the opportunity to extend their presence digitally beyond the actual trade fair period. Contacts and presentations can thus be continued even after the official fair closes – a format that underscores the growing importance of hybrid trade fair concepts.

Supporting Program: InnoTrans Convention and Expert Forums

In addition to the exhibition space itself, the InnoTrans Convention forms the intellectual heart of the event. In panel discussions and expert talks, international decision-makers come together to discuss the future of mobility. The program is carried by industry associations such as the Association of the German Rail Industry (VDB), the German Transport Forum (DVF), the Association of the European Rail Industry (UNIFE), the Association of the Electrical and Digital Industry (ZVEI) and the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV), which organize daily dialogue forums in the palais.Berlin.

The program is complemented by subject-specific events such as the International Design Forum (IDZ), the International Bus Forum, the International Tunnel Forum of STUVA, the DB Innovation Forum and the Public Transport Forum. This makes InnoTrans attractive not only to manufacturers and operators, but equally to planners, architects and political decision-makers.

Conclusion and Outlook

With its anniversary, InnoTrans 2026 once again underscores its role as a global trendsetter in the transport technology industry. The growing international participation, the multitude of world premieres and the dense convention program make clear how dynamically the rail and mobility sector continues to develop. Those who want to experience the future of rail up close should plan to attend the four trade fair days in September 2026 in Berlin. And the format is also expanding internationally: already in September 2027, InnoTrans Asia will launch in Singapore as an independent counterpart for the Asian market.
