From September 4 to 8, 2026, the Berlin Exhibition Center under the Radio Tower will once again transform into one of the world's largest stages for consumer electronics. With more than 1,900 exhibitors, IFA 2026 sets a clear focus on robotics, artificial intelligence and smart living – topics that have long since captivated not just industry experts, but also private visitors.

Humanoid Robots Conquer the Exhibition Halls

Hardly any sector at IFA 2026 is growing as rapidly as robotics. In the IFA Next innovation zone, around 300 exhibitors are expected to showcase how humanoid systems are becoming practical in everyday life, industry and healthcare. The offering is complemented by a robotics runway with up to 20 humanoid system manufacturers and the robot soccer competition RoboCup, which Berlin United from Humboldt University will present on all five trade fair days.

Announced exhibitors include Unitree, EngineAI, Dobot, DEEP Robotics, Agibot, Cozio Robotics, Ollobot and AIMOGA – complemented by exoskeletons and other assistance systems. Particularly exciting: The robots will not just stand statically on podiums. A highlight is the "Robots on the Runway" format on September 5 at 1 p.m. on the Creator Stage, where humanoid robots perform in a kind of tech show. Federal Minister Dorothee Bär is taking patronage of IFA Next this year, which underscores the political significance of the robotics industry.

Smart Home: Networking Becomes Everyday Practical

In addition to robots, the smart home is once again at the center of the trade fair. Autonomous mopping robots are climbing the next development stage according to industry reports, while manufacturers are increasingly working on seamless integration of their household appliances into existing smart home ecosystems. The central question is how users will communicate with their devices in the future – by voice, gesture or automated in the background.

Matter Standard as Foundation

The cross-manufacturer Matter standard has already significantly improved the interoperability of various smart home systems. Nevertheless, many manufacturers continue to work on their own proprietary solutions. For IFA 2026 visitors, this very balancing act between open standards and brand-specific ecosystems is likely to be a central discussion topic – which can be followed in halls 1 and 2, which are dedicated to smart homes.

New Experience Worlds for Visitors

IFA 2026 is also setting new structural accents. For the first time, retail is presented in the new Retail Innovation Zone in the City Cube: The associations Euronics, Electronic Partner and Expert are showcasing lounges, masterclasses and workshops there together. In parallel, the experience worlds Beauty Hub, Mobility Track and Outdoor Cooking & Gardening are returning on a larger scale. A European debut of Xiaomi is also announced for this year's event.

The hall plan provides a good overview of the thematic structure of the site: Smart Home can be found in halls 1 and 2, Communication & Connectivity in halls 3 and 5, Computing & Gaming in halls 6 and 7, Home Appliances in halls 8, 9 and 11, Audio in hall 10, Beauty Tech & Wellbeing in halls 12 to 15, Content Creation in halls 16, 17 and 20, and Home & Entertainment in halls 18 and 21 to 23. IFA Next is located in hall 25, IFA Global Markets in hall 26, while mobility topics are concentrated in the City Cube.

For private visitors, the fair opens on Friday, September 4, from 12 to 6 p.m. and from Saturday, September 5, to Wednesday, September 8, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are available online from €14, children under 15 receive free admission. The program is rounded off by concerts and live podcasts in the IFA summer garden, such as on September 3 with BUNT and on September 4 with Luciano.

Conclusion and Outlook

IFA 2026 makes it clear that artificial intelligence, robotics and smart home technologies are no longer niche topics, but are increasingly shaping everyday life. With a significantly expanded robotics offering in IFA Next, new formats such as "Robots on the Runway" and a strengthened retail presence in the Retail Innovation Zone, Berlin once again positions itself as a central meeting point for the international tech industry. Whether the announced innovations will actually translate into market-ready products will become apparent in the coming months – IFA 2026 will provide a first, broad outlook for this in September.
