<p>The IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover has come to an end – and leaves behind an impressive record. With a record number of world premieres, a significantly expanded test vehicle offering and high international participation, the leading trade fair of the commercial vehicle industry has once again established itself as the central meeting point of the industry. However, in addition to the figures, there are also clear demands on politics at the end of the event.</p>

<h2>435 World Premieres as New Record</h2> <p>The Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) draws a consistently positive conclusion after the completion of IAA Transportation 2026. The leading trade fair of the commercial vehicle industry presented <strong>435 world premieres</strong> – a new record value. The innovations shown focused mainly on two central future topics of the industry: the electrification of drives and autonomous transport solutions. From September 15-20, 2026, Hanover thus transformed once again into the international showcase for the future of road freight transport.</p>

<h3>Test Vehicles at New Record High</h3> <p>The test offering of the fair was particularly in demand this year: Visitors had <strong>84 vehicles from 17 manufacturers</strong> available for test drives. Compared to the previous event, this represents an increase of <strong>40 percent</strong> and thus also marks a new record high. The extensive test offering underscores how strongly the industry has increasingly relied on practical experience with electric and alternatively powered commercial vehicles.</p>

<h2>International Exhibitor Landscape at Record Level</h2> <p>The IAA Transportation 2026 also built on the successes of previous years in terms of international participation: The share of international exhibitors was <strong>70 percent</strong> and thus at the record level of the previous edition. Companies from China, Turkey and Italy were particularly well represented. Around <strong>23 percent of exhibitors</strong> participated in the fair for the first time – a sign of the continued attractiveness of the Hanover location for new market participants.</p> <p>At the same time, numerous established manufacturers returned to the fair, including Renault Trucks and Mercedes-Benz Vans. From the truck segment, companies such as BYD, DAF Trucks, Daimler Truck, Dongfeng, Ford, Ford Trucks, KIA, MAN Truck & Bus, MAXUS, Scania, VW Nutzfahrzeuge and Volvo Trucks presented their products. Even before the fair, the first halls of the grounds were overbooked, with registration numbers running approximately eleven percent above the reference value of the previous event.</p>

<h2>Innovations Between Electrification and Expedition</h2> <p>In addition to the pure figures, individual projects also attracted attention. For example, Daimler Truck presented the world record project "In 80 Charging Stations Around the World" at the fair: An eActros 600 with a 600-kWh battery pack and a range of around 500 kilometers is to travel around the globe on a tour of approximately 45,000 kilometers lasting about one year. The expedition is scheduled to start on the last day of the fair, with the route leading over the Caspian Sea, through Thailand and Laos to Australia, and via the Panamericana through the Americas.</p> <p>Suppliers also used IAA Transportation 2026 for new launches: Driventic presented new drive and brake systems focusing on electrification and efficiency, while Kässbohrer presented, according to its own statements, Europe's first cement silo trailer specifically designed for e-trucks. This is intended to offset the additional weight of the batteries through consistent lightweight construction.</p>

<h2>VDA Draws Conclusions and Formulates Demands</h2> <p>Despite the positive overall balance, the VDA makes it clear at the end of the fair that the innovations presented alone are not sufficient. For the broad-based ramp-up of electric and alternatively powered commercial vehicles, reliable political framework conditions are necessary – for example, in the expansion of charging infrastructure and in the regulatory requirements for the industry. The fair demonstrated that the technology is ready; now it is up to politics to create the appropriate conditions for its widespread use.</p>

<h2>Conclusion and Outlook</h2> <p>IAA Transportation 2026 has impressively demonstrated with record figures in world premieres, test vehicles and international participation how dynamically the commercial vehicle industry is currently developing. Electrification and autonomous systems are clearly the focus of innovation. At the same time, the industry's demands on politics make it clear that the transformation can only succeed together.
