<p>Digitalization, alternative drives, artificial intelligence and sustainability – these four topics currently dominate the automotive industry, and they are precisely reflected in this year's Automechanika Innovation Awards winners. On the first trade fair day of Automechanika Frankfurt, eight companies were honored for their pioneering developments that are likely to shape the automotive aftermarket in the coming years.</p><h2>Eight award winners from a strong field of applicants</h2><p>From a total of <strong>153 applications</strong>, a <strong>17-member international expert jury</strong> selected this year's winners. The companies <strong>Aviloo, Wesp Automotive, Snap-on, Gedore/Schaeffler, PPG Deutschland, Kärcher, Sampa Otomotiv</strong> and <strong>GS27</strong> are pleased to receive one of the coveted trophies. Solutions were honored in various categories, including E-Mobility & Innovative Drive Technologies, Workshop & Service Solutions, Parts & Innovative Technologies, and Data & Networking.</p><p>In evaluating the submissions, the jury applied a broad set of criteria: innovation content, cost-effectiveness, user-friendliness, functionality, market relevance, safety and quality, as well as contributions to environmental protection and sustainability were all factored into the decision. Michael Johannes, Vice President of Messe Frankfurt for the Mobility & Logistics business division and Brand Manager of Automechanika, emphasized the importance of new technologies for the industry at the awards ceremony: "We need new technologies that help us – on the path to digital, efficient and sustainable mobility."</p><h2>Technologies for workshops and vehicle technology</h2><p>The award-winning solutions cover a broad spectrum and demonstrate how technically demanding the challenges in the aftermarket have become. Among the honored innovations is a <strong>mechanical separation device</strong> that allows electric motors to be dismantled and repaired despite extreme magnetic forces – a process that is becoming increasingly important for workshops in light of the growing number of electric vehicles.</p><p>Also awarded was a <strong>3D camera measurement technology</strong> that enables precise positioning and monitoring of ADAS calibration mats. Given the increasingly complex driver assistance systems in modern vehicles, precise calibration is crucial for safety – an area where workshops will need to invest more in the future. Additionally, there is an <strong>AI-supported training software with language adaptation</strong> that aims to provide practical and flexible further education for workshop staff, as well as a <strong>dry ice cleaner with fully integrated dry ice production</strong> that makes cleaning processes in vehicle preparation more efficient.</p><h3>Green Award for sustainable braking technology</h3><p>In addition to the eight main categories, the jury once again awarded a special prize for the most ecologically sustainable novelty among all entries. This year, the <strong>Green Award</strong> went to Turkish company Sampa Otomotiv A.S. for the development "Sampa Braking Emission Storing Technology (B.E.S.T.)" – an innovative brake caliper system with integrated particle filtration and cooling. The technology addresses a topic that has often been overshadowed by the drive discussion in the debate on fine dust emissions: brake system wear, which continues to play a role even in electric vehicles.</p><h2>Special exhibition presents all award winners</h2><p>Those who wish to see the award-winning innovations in person will find them together with the nominated products in a <strong>special exhibition in the "Innovation4Mobility" area in Hall 3.0</strong>. This presentation gives trade fair visitors the opportunity to compare the award-winning technologies directly with the unsuccessful but equally high-quality submissions – a format that has proven successful at previous editions of Automechanika.</p><h2>Conclusion and outlook</h2><p>The 2024 Innovation Awards once again confirm how strongly the automotive aftermarket is permeated by the major future themes of mobility. Whether electric motor repair, ADAS calibration, AI training systems or sustainable braking technology – the award winners demonstrate that innovation power and practical relevance go hand in hand in the industry. For workshops and suppliers, the special exhibition in Hall 3.0 is likely to be one of the most important contact points at the trade fair to learn early on about upcoming standards and technologies.
